Fancy some Art? Yes please!

I am sitting here feeling a little bit exhilerated, for I have been to the MoMA and starred right into Van Gogh's The Starry Night. Well, sort of.

Google has just launched a new 'thing'- I will get a better word, where you can go to the top 17 art galleries around the world and look at a selection of paintings. And when I say look, I don't mean glimpse over lots of people's shoulders whilse you dodge and weave around them. With some crazy software, or maybe just a really good camera, you can get right into the face of many paintings.

My particular favourites were Van Gogh's Sunflowers and The Starry Night. On the latter, you can see exposed parts of the canvas underneath glorious thick strokes of paint. And I would also check out some Vermeer and Rembrandt in the Netherlands and some Blake at the Tate. It is so strange to see these painting up close to the point that you appreciate how old and delicate they are. Vermeer's The Milkmaid looks all laquered and glazed but you can see the delicate cracks of age in the paint.

don't know about you but I always get told off at galleries because I always want to look closer at paintings and now I have the perfect opportunity to get right in there.

Oh Ricky...

I think this is case of British humour that the Americans don't get. I know it is a bit naughty and offensive but I can't help but find it funny. The Americans are perhaps a little bit more happy go lucky...
